Kish and Jacque first met in the summer of 2019 through a mutual friend at a rooftop party at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. We immediately felt a connection, but started out as friends and soon formed a close-knit friend group who lived near downtown Memphis.

Kish and Jacque continued to spend time with their large group of friends almost every weekend, but they often found themselves chatting in the corner about life.

During the pandemic, Jacque and Kish began spending more time together one-on-one. For the first few months, Kish understandably stayed in quarantine, but Jacque finally persuaded him to join her on July 4th for a pool party. From that point on, they spent every weekend hanging out by the pool with friends, and it's still one of their favorite activities in the Summer.

Jacque kept inviting Kish to various activities like kayaking, hiking, salsa dancing, and more. She appreciated his enthusiasm for trying new things, and they often wrapped up their evenings watching a silly comedy.

Jacque started to realize she had feelings for Kish when she became sick with COVID-19. He went out of his way to make her soup, check in on her, and they even watched Netflix movies together virtually by counting down from 3 on Facebook Messenger. Kish said he was always playing the 'long game' when it came to pursuing Jacque.

After her 26th birthday, Jacque realized she needed to tell Kish how she felt. In mid-March, she finally confessed that she had feelings for him, and he told her he felt the same way. They went on their first date on April 4!

Jacque's first Navaratri with Kish! It was an absolute blast. Navratri is a nine-night Hindu festival celebrating the goddess Durga and her victory over evil. The festival is celebrated with traditional dances like Garba and Dandiya, and we had an absolute blast!

THE PROPOSAL! Jacque’s perspective: Kish was set on us taking a trip to Puerto Rico over Labor Day weekend, so I had a feeling he might propose. He told me he’d booked a photo shoot in Old San Juan, which made me think the proposal was coming, but my anxiety kicked in, and I started second-guessing everything. We spent an hour taking amazing photos around Old San Juan, and then the photographer asked me to stand in front of Kish. When Kish told me to turn around, he was on one knee. I immediately started crying and said yes! After the shoot, we called our family and friends to share the news. Just when I thought the tears were over, we went to a nearby restaurant where an incredible violinist was playing “Can't Help Falling in Love” by Elvis and “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole. I completely lost it because the Elvis song reminded me of meeting Kish in Memphis, and “L-O-V-E” made me think of my grandparents who passed away. They would’ve loved Kish and been so happy for me. It truly was the most magical day, and I’ll never forget it.
